I cannot see my portfolios, filters, or notebooks after I installed a database
update
These files reside in the
folder that Steele Expert was installed last time. If you have installed
the latest update in a different folder, the program cannot find your
user-created data files.
To correct this situation simply download again and install in the folder you
used last time.
It is highly advisable to always install the latest database in the default
folder recommended by the installation program ("C:\Program Files\Steele
Expert").
The reason is that the default folder is where your portfolio, filters, etc. are
automatically saved. If you install in a different folder each time, you will
not be able to see them.
We suggest you install in the default folder and you should not have any
problems with the shortcuts that start Steele Expert either.
If you have installed Steele Expert
in more than one folder (for example to view past databases), in order for
Steele Expert to be able to find your portfolios, filters, etc., please use a
file manager like Windows Explorer to move the file “User.mem” to your current
Steele Expert program folder (typically “C:\Program Files\Steele Expert”).
Your portfolios, filters, and tagged-fund pools are saved in a file named
“User.mem” which is stored in the folder where the Steele Expert program (Expert.exe)
is installed. The default folder is “C:\Program Files\Steele Expert”.
If you installed the latest update into a different folder than the one you used
before, the Steele Expert program would not be able to locate your previous
“User.mem” file containing your portfolios and filters.
We recommend always installing the program in the default folder to avoid such
issues.
You can always copy the “User.mem” file from the previous Steele Expert folder
to the most recent one. Then, when you start the application, you will see you
portfolios as usual.
